Nice pic! How does the sound of the Radias compare to the P08? I was pretty close to buying one before I found out about the P08. Although they have some obvious differences, they're both aimed at giving analog or analog-like sounds.
In listening to example sound clips of the Radias (and test driving an R3), I got the impression that the sound is a bit thin and harsh. Since you have both, I'd be interested in hearing what you think. |

Hi Rooftree,
I got the Korg M3 with the Radias EXB Board first and created many analog type sounds that to my ear sounded authentic. The Radias does a good job as a VA. Then I got the P'08 and realized how thin the Radias was compared to the Prophet. There is nothing like true analog!
I had other VA machines such as the Nord Lead 2x Rack, Access Virus Snow and Novation A Station. All sounded ok but still had that thin digital nasal sound to them. I liked the Nord the best out of those.
The Prophet is the real deal. However, the Korg M3 is a very good work station and has some incredible sounds. The Radias board adds to it for that analog feel but does not capture the true power of analog. Together they make for a killer setup. I have all what the M3 offers PLUS the power of the Prophet.
The Radias does have the ability to make some killer lead sounds. The Pads sound good too. But, the Prophet nails that Brass and fat analog pads better.
In conclusion, one would not replace the other. But, together you have it all. Now, if I had a Little Phatty that would surely cover all the bases! _________________ ジョーイくん

| Thanks for the comparison! It's good to hear that you're finding something to like with each synth. |

I sold Radias to buy Prophet '08... never looked back
Radias is soooo cheesy... it's like some freeware vst uploaded in a very shiny hardware form. The funny thing is, that Prophet has more usefull features than Radias (for me).
I know you can make pretty good dance music with Radias, and it did had some strong sides - but then again, you can make good dance music with pretty much anything, and for digital synthesis I would rather use vst's - if I buy hardware, I want it to be analog
Nords still kick ass, for digital synthesis. Virus is also good... I might actually buy one - but just because it can be integrated in your DAW... 16 parts of VA synthesis, without eating CPU... that is a good thing indeed... |
