So, after wanting one for many years I've just picked up a Prophet-10. Unfortunately it didn't come with a manual. I'm going to order one, but in the mean time a couple of quick questions.
1) is it possible to copy a patch from the upper or lower bank to the other?
2) it appears that the tape drive may be broken. What is the process for loading sequences from tape? It's got the side mounted Braemer drive.
Other than that, so far so good. It's going to need some new bushings, but really enjoying the board so far...
Thanks! _________________ Steve

From what I understand there is no provision on the Prophet 10 to save to or upload from an external tape machine (like on Rev 3x and some earlier Prophet 5s). There does appear to be a way to transfer data through some retrofit midi upgrades (sysex) but as I don't own a P10 the details escape me.
Why do you think your Braemer drive is broken? Does it work at all?
These are the steps to load from a tape in the Braemer Poly-Sequencer:
1 Check that the sequencer is in idle mode.
2 Insert the special microcassette with side to be loaded up.
3 Press RECORD. It blinks.
4 Press LOAD FROM TAPE. It lights. The routine starts by rewinding the cassette if necessary.
5 If the tape loads correctly the LOAD FROM TAPE LED will go out and the Sequencer will enter Idle Mode.
6 If the LOAD FROM TAPE LED instead blinks an error has occurred. Repeat step 4.
7 If the EDIT and LOAD FROM TAPE or the SAVE TO TAPE LEDS blink the tape is blank.
8 For most processes STOP will clear the sequencer.
Although this is rather late in coming I hope it will help you or at least some others on this forum.
PS The manual actually warns not to externally clock the sequencer above 400 pulses per second "since the sequencer may loose its mind if you clock it too fast" *laughs* _________________ Prophet 5 Rev 3.3 w/midi
